Day 10 of the 24 beer of Christmas is ‘Tis the Squeezin’, an Berliner Weisse, from Metal Monkey Brewing in Romeoville, Illinois. A Berliner Weisse beer in a Christmas pack? Interesting. Not something that I expected but I do like the innovation of doing a non-seasonal style with seasonal ingredients. My hat off to Metal Monkey for going off the rails a bit (and for not using spices).
‘Tis the Squeezin’ as the typical Berliner type yeast profile. I can’t describe it but I know it when I waft it. The cranberries and orange don’t really assist the aroma but the two work well in the taste to add to the tartness of the beer, which lingers. Overall a solid offering and something I would have again, especially in the warmer months. Enjoy!
