Whenever we want a break from our usual backyard tracking, we let a random state generator point us toward a new corner of the American craft beer map. For this round, the digital dart landed on Vermont – the Green Mountain State. (Fun fact: the name itself comes from the French “Verts Monts,” literally meaning “Green Mountains,” coined by Samuel de Champlain when he first laid eyes on the lush, heavily forested peaks in 1609.)
Vermont might be famous for its mountain views and world-renowned hazy IPAs, but the federal COLA database had a remarkably quiet month for August 2026. After filtering out the usual generic bulk approvals and keg collars, we were left with just a single non-keg-collar label approval that made the cut!

When there is only one non-keg-collar approval in the entire monthly queue, the selection process gets pretty straightforward! With no competition to fight off, this solitary release takes top honors by default—and fortunately, it holds its own quite nicely.
