Grand Teton Black Cauldron Imperial Stout

Sometimes certain Fridays seem much more week welcome than others. Not because of my usual anticipation of an American craft beer but because the time off is going to be well welcomed. Knowing that a beer review is laying ahead will sweeten the evening.

After a “dirty” week what better than a American Imperial Stout: big, bold, and beautiful. Black Cauldron Imperial Stout by Grand Teton Brewing Company seems to fit the bill from the outside looking in perfectly.

A bottle dated back to December, 2009 should of aged nicely and, soon after opening, I had my evidence that it did. Roasted, chocolate, and prunes are the predominate flavors that hit the taste buds. The aroma is probably the short coming of this beer as it doesn’t do the flavor justice. Otherwise the big beer is easy drinking and a perfect fit for any Friday evening. Enjoy!

Useless Fact: People condemned to the guillotine in France during the French revolution had the top of their head shaved. Two long locks of hair were left hanging at the temples.
