Kern River Citra Double IPA

Excited. I think that sums up my feelings over trying a bottle of Citra Double IPA by Kern River Brewing Company. Kern River makes some mighty good American craft beer but they are hard to get since their distribution is so small. Where there is a will there is a way, fortunately, I landed several bottles. Will it live up to the hype?

Citra Double IPA has a good name for me: “citra” just yells out that citra hops was used and that is one fantastic hop in my humble opinion. Zombie Dust is made exclusively (I believe) with that hop and that beer is awesome. I expected big things.

Big expectations delivered upon. The hops dominate this beer as expected and citra is king. Mango, pineapple, and other citrus aromas compete for the attention of the senses, winning them while holding borrowing them too.

A must for anyone that is a citra hop affectionado or just appreciated a good DIPA. Enjoy!

Aroma: 10 (25%), Taste: 10 (25%), Look: 9 (15%), Drinkability: 9 (35%), Overall: 9.5

Useless Fact: When a crusader died, his corpse was chopped up and the flesh boiled away. This was done so that the skeleton could be conveniently returned to Europe for a Christian burial.
