Cigar City Brewing has taken a bit to catch on with me. The first offerings I had from Cigar City didn’t do much for and I have documented that in the blog several times (I guess I am beating a dead horse). I now look forward to each of their beers as they do seem to do a quality job of mixing of the off beat.
Cubano-Style Espresso fits that bill exactly. It is an American brown ale with a twist: espresso.
In spite of everything I just got done saying about Cigar City and their wonderful ability to make some artistic beers, Cubano-Style Espresso just didn’t agree with me. I guess that sounds a little harsh as I did still rate the beer an overall 7.9. With that added, the recent beers I have had from Cigar City have set the bar higher than when I first tried their beer; meaning that I expect more from them now. Therefore when I rate a beer 7.9, which in my opinion is above average, it doesn’t meat what I have come to expect. Don’t worry, I am still looking forward to more Cigar City beers. Enjoy!
