Sant Fe Chicken Killer Barley Wine

814 reviews into Two Beer Dudes and I finally reviewed (and tasted) my first beer from the state of New Mexico. I actually believe that Chicken Killer Barley Wine by Santa Fe Brewing Company is my first American craft beer from the state period.

I usually have some type of assumption of a new beer but I didn’t have much of one with Chicken Killer. Not having a beer from New Mexico and not knowing much of the New Mexico American craft beer scene, I figured to go into the beer with an open mind.

Chicken Killer is a solid example of an American barley wine. I am planning on brewing a American barley wine in the next few weeks, so there will probably be a few more of the style popping up here in the short term to help me getting a better feel for the style. I am currently doing my typical research of the style. Enjoy!

Useless Fact: George Washington was not the first president of the United States. The first president was John Hanson, Maryland’s representative at the Continental Congress. On November 5, 1781, Hanson was elected by the Constitutional Congress to the office of “President of the United States in Congress Assembled.” He served for one year.
