Sierra Nevada Torpedo

Torpedo by Sierra Nevada Brewing Company has spent a long time being neglected by me. I purchased a bottle several weeks ago as part of a “you make your own six pack” crap. Sierra Nevada always makes good beers but, for some reason, I just find myself purchasing them all that often. Don’t know why. Could be they have been around for a while and I prefer trying to give the new kids on the block a try.

The pour brings a deep gold pour with a white foam that has above average staying power, leaving dry, sticky lacing behind. The aroma is hop forward, earth and spice are the front runners with a dash of citrus splashed in. The taste follows adding grassy hops to the mix along with a light sweetness that seems to be more of an after thought as the malts are subdued. Crisp and refreshing with only a mild build up of bitterness.

Torpedo is a crisp, refreshing, easy to drink IPA that will be especially good all summer long. I waited way to long but glad I didn’t wait any longer. Enjoy!

Sierra Nevada Kellerweis one of three beers reviewed last night that all made my palate dance for joy.

Friday night beer reviews are fun. Actually any day of the week is a good night to review beers and, if you really want to get into it, any day, any time is a good time to review beer. The lineup for last night was mainly of beers I had laying around the house as I am actually getting to a point where I don’t have much to try. free run 3.0 v4 femmes Time for re-drinking.

Friday’s lineup:

Riverwest Stein Beer was in third place, not by much but Kellerweis and 90 minute IPA were both outstanding. Kellerweis was my first beer of the night and lasted a total of six sips. It is a really good Hefeweizen while 90 minute IPA was a really good American Imperial IPA.

I really couldn’t decide between the two as they are both so different but both so damn tasty. My thoughts: depending on the mood you are in, get them both. Enjoy!

Cali Beer Score

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

There seems to be a ton of really good American craft breweries out in California. The only problem I face in Chicagoland is getting my hands on some of the liquid goodness. After thinking about possibilities, I quickly realized that my cousins lives near Los Angeles. A bright light went off inside my head (a rare occurrence).

Firestone Walker Brewing Company - Union Jack

After a couple of emails and talking about beer and realizing, that Russ, was a beer enthusiast, it was time to see if he would help out. So I popped the questions and without hesitation, I had my California beer man.

Let’s just say I will be having a Cali beer night with Rich sometime over the next week with reviews to follow. I am stoked and I want to say thank you to Russ.

What did I have? free run 3.0 v2 femmes I have five bombers: three off my list and two the beer store guy thought I couldn’t get here in Illinios (he was wrong).

The first two beers are the ones I can get in Illinois. I have never purchased before because there has always been something else that stroked my fancy more.

  • Sierra Nevada – Southern Hemisphere Harvest Fresh Hop Ale
  • Beer Republic – Red Rocket Ale

Below are the three beers that I can’t get and look forward to enjoying.

  • Ale Smith – IPA
  • Firestone Walker – Pale 31
  • Firestone Walker – Union Jack

The reviews will be up as soon as I can get Rich over here. Enjoy!
