Dark Horse Tres Blueberry Stout

Halloween! One of my favorite holidays of the year. I enjoy the excitement that the kids show as the days count down until they can go from house-to-house seeking out sugar laden treats. The coolest costume of the evening went to the boy that crafted a Lego person from cardboard and styrofoam. It was pulled off quite well, turning heads, and the envy of the Lego lover inside each of us.

I always pull a wagon when out with the kids. There are three pillow cases, one for each kid, allowing them to dump their candy as we move along. According to my four year old, if you are lighter you can run faster and get more candy. The wagon also serves as my travel bar. Loaded with a cooler full of home brew and American craft beer, I am never dry on Halloween.

Tres Blueberry Stout by Dark Horse Brewing Company was one of the few American craft beers to make the trip this year. The twelve ounce bottle has been in the cellar for a good sixteen months. A fair amount of aging that still had the blueberries in the aroma and taste. But this was only complimentary as a solid base stout carried the beer. I only wonder if blueberries fall out of a beer like other additives? If yes, then I don’t know if I would like this as much fresh. If no, then this is good to go anytime. Enjoy!

This marks the end of the 11th month and the final stretch beginning with American craft beer 336 to be had on November 1st.
