Oakshire Ill Tempered Gnome

Shared with friends American craft beer seems to hit its pinnacle. I get so geeked out about Thursday night beer night that it has become my favorite night of the week. Rich and Steve made it over to share some six bombers of beer. I have to say only one of them was disappointing.

Ill Tempered Gnome by Oakshire Brewery was the first beer of the evening that was mainly shared by Rich and I, since Steve arrived a touch late. He will be docked his fair share of American craft beer over the next few weeks as his penance.

Gnome was not ill tempered at all. In fact it made both Rich and I quite happy since we were expecting a spiced up mess from another winter beer gone shitty. Instead we were greeted by a wonderful beer that had solid balance, good malt, and hops. The aroma was the light side of the beer as it just didn’t measure up to the beer. If they find a way to pack more joy for the sniffer in the beer, this will easily be out of sight. Enjoy!

Useless Fact: When leeches mate, the leech playing the male role (leeches are hermaphrodites and can assume either sex) clings to the body of the female and deposits a sac of sperm on her skin. This sac produces a strong, flesh-deteriorating enzyme that eats a hole through the female’s skin and fertilizes the eggs within her body.
