Heavy Seas Loose Cannon

What is going on with this cold? It has lasted some nine days with Sunday being one of the worse days overall. I even went to the doctor a couple of days ago and was given a prescription for antibiotics. Good help they were as they made me feel worse all weekend then I had been. Oh well, at least it didn’t cause me to lose anytime at work. The bad news though: it has been a while since I could sit down with a beer and purely delight in the expert craftsmanship of the brewer in the making of said American craft beer.

Loose Cannon is made for Heavy Seas by Clipper City Brewing Company was beer number 75. I don’t know if for sure they try to hide this fact as this beer is from the east coast, arriving courtesy of King Bob Jr.

When I see that a beer is an American IPA, it immediately creates thoughts of big hop aromas and flavors that consist of citrus, tropical fruits, floral, and/or pine. Loose Cannon really doesn’t go over the edge or use much of what I expected. It is more earthy and spice notes with subtle citrus.

The nose is really light: for anything malt, hops, and yeast included. That was a slight disappointment. The beer picks up in the mouth as earth, spice, and citrus hops mix with caramel sweet malts for a nice, well balanced drinking beer. Not a hop lovers dream but a solid offering. Enjoy!
